To start your joint divorce application, we suggest obtaining a copy of your marriage certificate (or ordering one from Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria now: https://www.bdm.vic.gov.au/marriages-and-relationships/get-a-marriage-certificate ). Our Fee Covers: 1. A consultation with an experienced divorce lawyer. 2. Our divorce lawyer will obtain important information about your circumstances and relationship. 3. We will prepare the Joint Application for Divorce and send it to you for review. 4. We will file the divorce application with the court. Disbursements: Additional fees will apply for the court filing fee. Additional Costs: 1. There may be additional costs if your divorce application requires extra work. Some circumstances where this can occur are: 2. It may be necessary to prepare and file an additional affidavit with your divorce application, if: a. You cannot provide a marriage certificate. b. There are residency or jurisdictional issues. c. There is a change in name or disparity between the legal name and the name on the marriage certificate. d. The parties are separated under the same roof. 3. Where there are no appropriate arrangements in place for the children of the marriage.
